Re: Is there any tool to change MAC ?

Yes macchanger is a great tool  big_smile

Read the info there are some options to use.
But I always use the same  lol  :

macchanger -A eth0

Just type your nic intface name instead of eth0 and macchanger will change your mac to a random one (random mac and company, i think)

Re: Is there any tool to change MAC ?

during a pen test it is always better to not use the random MAC but rather the manufacturer of the kit you are testing on.

i.e. if the network is mostly cisco use a cisco mac not a random one that will stick out like a sore thumb to anyone that it looking wink

Re: Is there any tool to change MAC ?

Fat,

you are right, maybe it

Re: Is there any tool to change MAC ?

zaz/fat,

Depending on the need I would chane the MAC before ever touching the network - why? so that my original is never captured in logs... if I need total stealth. I do change it something common so that it wont stand out.

my 2 cents

Re: Is there any tool to change MAC ?

another good point.

Its worth noting that Kismet is completely passive and will never send out any packets. So in theory changing the MAC is mute unless you actually try to connect.

Re: Is there any tool to change MAC ?

Yes, Kismet will not send any package so I think you can use it with your good mac.

The other point  is that maybe your linux  tries to connect when the card is plugged on and maybe (in some networks with basic configurations) you can connect automatically and the network can record your good  mac.....
